About the Centre
Our Bold Vision for a Brighter Future
As the number of individuals and families affected by autism steadily grows, there is an urgent need to develop new ways of serving them. Doing so requires a good understanding of the community’s needs and the ability to deliver innovative programming.
With 40 years of experience and an interdisciplinary team of 90 people, Giant Steps is one of the world’s leaders in autism education.
We have the vision and expertise to transform the way autism services are delivered in Quebec, in a model that can be replicated worldwide.
Giant Steps has assembled a team of autism experts, highly committed parents and volunteers, and strong business partners, to deliver the future of autism services, and, in the process, to position Quebec as a proud global leader.
Our society’s greatest strength is its diversity. By including people on the autism spectrum in every facet of society, and offering support when needed, we can, indeed, celebrate this diversity.
Why Build The Centre Now?
Autism is the most diagnosed neurodevelopmental disorder in Canada. With prevalence rates rapidly increasing, services have not kept pace. We currently cannot meet the growing demand of more people on the autism spectrum with complex needs.
Evolving To Meet The Needs Of A Changing Population
The new Giant Steps Autism Centre will consist of four separate but integrated pillars supporting the changing needs of an autistic person throughout their lifetime.
Our New Neighbourhood Empowers Our Mission
The Giant Steps Autism Centre, a state-of-the-art facility specifically designed for people with ASD, will find its home in the Technopôle Angus, an avant-garde neighborhood guided by principles of innovative sustainable development.
Creating A Cutting-Edge Facility
The Giant Steps Autism Centre has been designed to take into consideration the many perceptual differences and sensory challenges often facing people with autism.
